The Academy will be celebrating the 45th anniversary of the 1971 Best Picture winner, "The French Connection" on Oct. 7 at 7:30 p.m. PT at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
What's also cool is that after the screening, Oscar-winning screenwriter, Chris McQuarrie will host an onstage conversation with the director, William Friedkin.
"The French Connection" is based on Robin Moore's 1969 nonfiction book of the same name. The film version starred Gene Hackman, Roy Scheider, and Fernando Rey. It won five Academy awards including Best Picture (it was the first R-rated film to win for Best Picture in the Academy's history), Best Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Film Editing.
