Gaston Solnicki's 'Kekszakallu' opens in the U.S. on July 21

Last week (June 30), Cinema Tropical announced the U.S. theatrical release of "Kekszakallu." The film will be opening on July 21 at the Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York City. Cinema Tropical will be partnering with Cinema Slate for the theatrical expansion of the film in other U.S. markets and distribution platforms.

"Kekszakallu" is partly inspired by Bela Bartok's sole opera, "Bluebeard's Castle."It's a portrait of several young women on the threshold of adulthood. The cast of "Kekszakallu" includes Laila Maltz, Katia Szechtman, Lara Tarlowski, Natali Maltz, Maria Soldi, Pedro Trocca, and Denise Groesman.

The director is Gaston Solnicki. Solnicki's film was named one of the Best Undistributed Films of 2016 by Film Comment. Other films that he directed were "Suden" and "Papirosen."
