HBO drama series 'The Deuce' to debut on Sept. 10

The HBO drama series, "The Deuce" will be debuting on Sept. 10 at 9 p.m. EST. The series was created by David Simon and George Pelecanos. The first season is eight episodes with actor James Franco directing two of the episodes.
"The Deuce" follows the rise of the porn culture in New York from the early 70s through the mid-80s. While it's structured as a fictional narrative, producer Marc Henry Johnson chronicled the rise and fall the sex industry through the lives of a pair of real-life twins who eventually became Mob fronts for the Gambino family in midtown.
The title is also based on the local slang for New York's fabled 42nd Street.
The series includes James Franco, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Carr, Margarita Levieva, Lawrence Gilliard Jr., Dominique Fishback, Chris Coy, Emily Meade, and Natalie Paul.
The creators of "The Deuce" also collaborated on "The Wire" and "Treme."
