Academy Board of Governors re-elected John Bailey for second term as President

Last night (August 7) John Bailey was re-elected president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences by the Board of Governors. Going in his second term, Bailey is the first cinematographer to ever hold the position of Academy President. It's also his 15th year as a governor representing the Cinematographers Branch.

The Board also elected these officer positions last night:
  • Lois Burwell, First Vice President (chair, Awards, and Events Committee)
  • Sid Ganis, Vice President (chair, Museum Committee)
  • Larry Karaszewski, Vice President (chair, Preservation and History Committee)
  • Nancy Utley, Vice President (chair, Education and Outreach Committee)
  • Jim Gianopulos, Treasurer (chair, Finance Committee)
  • David Rubin, Secretary (chair, Membership and Administration Committee)
Burwell, Gianopulos, Rubin, and Utley were re-elected to their posts. Ganis, who served as the Academy President from 2005 to 2009, returned to the board this year. This will be Karaszweski's first officer stint.
