MoMA announces the first large-scale retrospective of the work of Charles White in over 30 years

The Museum of Modern Art and the Art Institute of Chicago are presenting the first major museum exhibition of Charles White's oeuvre in over 30 years. "Charles White: A Retrospective" will be at the Museum of Modern Art from Oct. 7, 2018, through Jan. 13, 2019.
Before that, it will be available on view at the Art Institute of Chicago from June 8 through Sept. 3, 2018.
The exhibition will feature a detailed overview of Charles White's work over a four-decade span of enormous change in the US. It begins in the late '30s and concludes with White's premature death in 1979. Drawings, paintings, prints, photographs and contextual ephemera will be featured in the exhibit.
After the MoMA presentation, the exhibition will travel to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in Spring 2019.
