Sweden's 'The Square' among the nine foreign films to advance in the Oscar Race

The Oscar race is heating up in the Foreign Language Film category for the 90th Academy Awards. Nine-two films had originally been considered in the category and now these are the ones that have advanced:

  1. Chile: "A Fantastic Woman" (Sebastian Lelio)
  2. Germany: "In the Fade" (Fatih Akin) 
  3. Hungary: "On Body and Soul" (Ildiko Enyedi) 
  4. Israel: "Foxtrot" (Samuel Maoz) 
  5. Lebanon: "The Insult" (Ziad Doueiri) 
  6. Russia: "Loveless" (Andrey Zvyagintsev) 
  7. Senegal: "Felicite" (Alain Gomis)
  8. South Africa: "The Wound" (John Trengove) 
  9. Sweden: "The Square" (Ruben Ostlund) 
The final nominations for the 90th Academy Awards will be announced on Jan 23, 2018. 

The 90th Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, and will be televised live on the ABC Television Network at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT.
