Cinema Slate has announced the New York theatrical release of Santiago Mitre's "Paulina." "Paulina" has a history of awards from the Grand Prize and the Fipresci Award at the Cannes Film Festival (Critics' Week) to the Special Jury Award at the Torino Film Festival. That's not counting actress Dolores Fonzi winning a total of eight Best Actress Awards either.

"Paulina" will be opening on June 23 at New York's Spectacle Theater before a national expansion during the summer.

It's both a remake and a "potent update" of Daniel Tinayre's 1960 film, "La Patota." Dolores Fonzi gives a searing performance as Paulina, who leaves a promising legal career to work as a school teacher in a rural village on the border with Paraguay and Brazil.

After the aftermath of a violent sexual assault by a group of young men, Paulina's decisions in its wake mercilessly test her relationships and core beliefs.
