Cinema Tropical announces the 2017 edition of the Cinema Tropical Festival

Cinema Tropical, the New York based organization dedicated to promoting Latin American Cinema in the U.S. announced on Feb. 8 that their 2017 edition of the Cinema Tropical Festival with the Museum of the Moving Image will take place over the weekend of Feb. 24-26.

The festival will be presenting six feature films from Brazil, Dominican Republic, Mexico, and the United States. It will be featuring the winners of the 7th Annual Cinema Tropical Awards that were announced at a special ceremony at the New York Times Company headquarters last month.

Opening this year's festival is Tatiana Huezo's "Tempestad," winner of the Cinema Tropical Award for Best Documentary.  Winner of the Cinema Tropical Award for Best Fiction Film, "Neon Bull" will close out the festival. The Brazilian film was directed by Gabriel Mascaro.

The 2017 edition of the Cinema Tropical Festival is presented in partnership with Museum of the Moving Image, and The New York Times Company’s Latino Network, and is made possible with the support of the Mexican Cultural Institute of New York and Vilma Vale-Brennan. The media sponsor is Remezcla and the hotel sponsor is Hôtel Americano.
