Sundance 2017: Kirsten Tan's debut film 'Pop Aye' wins the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award for Screenwriting

Kirsten Tan's debut feature film, "Pop Aye" won the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award for Screenwriting at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. "Pop Aye" is a road movie set in Thailand. It tells the story about an over-the-hill architect and his attempt to bring his long-lost elephant back to their rural hometown.
Kirsten Tan wrote and directed "Pop Aye." She's the first Singaporean to win an award at Sundance. "Pop Aye" was the opening night title in the World Dramatic section. Since its debut on Jan. 19, it has gathered strong reviews.
Kino Lorber owns the North American rights to "Pop Aye."
