This holiday season, HBO and the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism present the documentary, "Risky Drinking." It challenges viewers to recognize when their drinking may be putting them at risk and offers information that could help millions of Americans lead healthier lives. Nearly one-third of adults in the U.S. engage in problem drinking at some point in their lives.
The cautionary documentary debuts on Dec. 19 at 8 p.m. EST exclusively on HBO. Other dates are Dec. 22 (11:10 a.m., 11:50 p.m.), Dec. 24 (1:15 p.m.), Dec. 27 (5:15 p.m.) Dec. 30 (3 p.m., 2:15 a.m.) and Jan. 8 (1:35 p.m.). It will also be available on HBO Now, HBO Go, HBO On Demand and other affiliate portals.
"Risky Drinking" was directed by Ellen Goosenberg Kent (HBO's "Crisis Hotline: Veterans Press 1" and "Alive Day Memories: Home from Iraq"). It was produced by Kent and Perri Peltz, and for HBO: senior producer was Sara Bernstein and the executive producer was Shelia Nevins.
So the documentary takes a case-study look at the hazards of alcohol use and details the ways the medical community views and treats "risky drinkers."
