Go back to school with TCM's new online course, 'TCM Presents Painfully Funny: Exploring Slapstick in the Movies'

TCM and Ball State University has banded together to create an online course (it's free too)! The course is called, "TCM Presents Painfully Funny: Exploring Slapstick in the Movies." This course is part of TCM's own programming event, "OUCH! A Salute to Slapstick." The program will be airing in September every Tuesday and Wednesday.

So the course starts on August 28 and lasts for 6 weeks. The course will explore 56 classic films released between 1914 to 2004. Those who enroll will watch, discuss, and analyzed the best comedy gags.

Here's an outline: 

• Multimedia course materials.
• Daily emails with movie clips and conversation starter.
• Ongoing interactions with fellow film fans on the TCM message boards or at #SlapstickFall 
• You don't need the TCM channel either.
• For students who successfully complete all the course requirements, they will receive a certificate of completion.  

Richard L. Edwards, Ph.D. is the executive director  and the social media, graphic design, and videography, shared in the course was created in collaboration with Ball State University Immersive Learning Program's "Let's Movie Design Studio."
