CW bringing 'Lost Boys' to the small screen

There's some exciting  news for "The Lost Boys" fans, it looks like CW is making a TV show based on the '80s vampire movie. According to the Aug. 18 report from Deadline,the series adaptation will be from "Veronica Mars" and iZombie" creator Rob Thomas.

The series is envisioned for  seven seasons and will tell a story that spans 70 years, with each season chronicling a decade. For example, Season 1 will be set in San Francisco during the Summer of Love, 1967. What is interesting to note that each season the humans, the setting, the story, the antagonist all change, while only the vampires remain the same.

So it's an interesting concept and with "Vampire Diaries" ending soon, it looks like CW already has a vampire series set up to take its place! The project is executive produced by Thomas (Spondoolie Productions), Danielle Stokdyk, Dan Etherdige, and Mike Karz and Bill Bindley (both from Gulfstream Television). 

How did all this happen? It was Gulfstream's idea to remake "The Lost Boys" into a TV series. The company has an overall deal with WBTV. Rob Thomas, who is also under an overall deal at WBTV, came up with the new take on the movie that was pitched at the CW. Juliana Janes, the head of Gulfstream Television, will oversee the project for the company.

"The Lost Boys" was released in 1987. It starred Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, Kiefer Sutherland, Jason Patric, Jami Getz, Alex Winter, and Dianne Wiest. Joel Schumacher was the one that directed it. It's indeed one of the coolest teenage vampire flicks out there!
