Breaking Glass Pictures have announced the U.S. theatrical release of "The Apostate." The director, Federico Veiroj was an Uruguayan film programmer turned director. His film is said to channel Luis Bunuel and Eric Rohmer. So "The Apostate" opens at the Anthology Film Archives in New York on September 9, followed by releases in Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, and other cities.
"The Apostate" premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year and went to other film festivals like San Sebastian, Rotterdam, and New Directors/New Films. The film stars Barbara Lennie, Marta Larralde, Vicky Pena, and Ogalla. Which Ogalla is a friend of Veiroj's and whose life the script is loosely based on.
On October 25, "The Apostate" will be released on VOD platforms like iTunes, Amazon Instant, Google Play, Vudu, Blockbuster, and Cable VOD.
